Lisa Lytle envisioned a new childcare facility in Ennis and with every circumstance along the way her labor of love was confirmed. She prayed about it a lot but the opportunity did not work out in Kerens. There were other offers such as in Corsicana but Lisa thought if she invested
herself in it, she would rather do it in Ennis.
She saw the need, especially for the babies but she would also enjoy doing the daycare herself. Her husband affirmed the decision and thought she would do well.
In March of 2018, Sunshine Kids Academy opened in a small building on Gilmer Street in Ennis. The demand was great and Lisa began talking to the owners of the building we are currently located in.
She prayed and she asked God if it was to happen, that He would open the door but if it was not to happen to close it quickly. The owners and Lisa came to terms on Thursday and Lisa closed on the building on Tuesday. There is such a great need for care for babies. Sunshine Kids Academy has two locations - one in Ennis, one in Ferris, and the third one coming soon to Red Oak.
Our motto is "Every Child Needs A Soft Place To Land " which is also painted on the wall in the lobby.
Lisa Lytle is a former police patrol sergeant and a current paramedic who has seen a lot of child abuse cases. She started Life Support Training in 1988 and teaches CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training. Sunshine Kids Academy accepts Child Care Services (CCS) and a lot of privately paid children as well. We care about children -- all children.
We are on 2.7 acres and we love our playgrounds with modern equipment and paths for pushing our baby strollers. The health and welfare of the kids are always are a concern. All our employees are trained in CPR, first aid and the use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
We have a great curriculum and our summer program was planned in early spring. The future is bright at Sunshine.
